How to make a shoe rack?

Cut pieces to length and width:
Using a miter saw.  Trim wood piece to the lengths needed.  Then rip slats to 1/2 inch thick on a table saw, keep your fingers safe using a jig,  then to cut 1/4-inch-thick rabbets in the slat ends, 1/4-inch-wide  dadoes in the rail edges by using the saw.  After that, rip the rails in half.  Sand all the cut edges lightly.

Glue pegs to dadoes:
Glue 1/4 -inch-square pegs  into the dado using slats to set spacing.  Gently remove slats ,once glue sets, sand pegs flush with tops of their dadoes for making those slots.  So the slat ends can fit into mortise-like slots in rails of end panels.

Glue slats and rails:
There need to be four pairs with slots totally - one pair for each end panel and one pair for each shelf , to start from the first rail , glue ends of slats into slots , then the other one , after glued both of two , clamp together each slat-and -rail assembly, Check it’s square.

Drill pocket holes:
Drill two holes through the inside face of rail’s end.  Do the same for rest of panel rails and the undersides of shelf rails and crosspiece.  Drill three evenly spaced cross-grain holes in the top rails and two in the end panels's top rails.
Pocket screws are useful tools that can offer a quick way to form strong no-glue joints where wood pieces meet at right angles.The screws fit into pilot holes drilled at a shallow , 15-degree angle by a special stepped.
